Poisonous Frogs

The Poisonous Dart Frog and Mantellas are both brightly colored. These colors warn predators that they are poisonous. Their colors can vary from orange to green, from yellow to black, and from red to brown. These colors can also help fend off other frogs during mating season. They call them Dart Frogs because natives used to catch the frogs then hang them over a hot fire to get the poison to leak out. Then they would take to poison and put it on their darts. The most poisonous of the Dart Frogs is Phyllobates Terribilis. The Skunk Frog is also poisonous but uses its smell to ward off predators.
